Contracts can be in place for many purposes. A mediator can assist in resolving a contract dispute for parties involved and possibly help avoid going to court. Parties to the dispute may have the opportunity to come together to discuss options for resolving the issues.
A mediator is an individual that is specifically trained to help people experiencing a dispute. The mediator is a neutral third-party that is in charge of facilitating the meeting and allowing both sides of a conflict to be heard and understood while also giving them the space to exercise self-determination and discuss solutions that can be suitable for both parties.
The length of mediation is often determined by the number of factors to consider, the complexity of the dispute, and of course the ability of the parties to negotiate and possible compromise. In most cases, mediation will take from one to six hours. It is not unheard of however for a mediation process to take more time if the situation calls for it.
At Sun River Mediation, we charge an hourly rate of $140 with a one hour minimum. Disputes are all different, people are all different and the resolution can be quick or may take some time. There is no pressure to commit to any amount of time as the mediation is your opportunity to take as little or as much time as needed to address the issues at hand.
Both parties have the opportunity to assert more control over the outcome of their dispute than they would if their case was to be adjudicated. You do not have to agree to terms that seem unfair to you. Negotiations and compromises of many kinds can be made between parties.
