Divorce is typically one of the most emotional and stressful processes a person can go through.  In many cases people are hurt, heartbroken, angry, and filled with worries and doubts about the future.  This challenging time can be alleviated by the use of a mediator, as an alternative to the family court system.

Mediations can take several hours or several meetings depending on the issues at hand, the mediator will help determine what information needs to be disclosed and shared, and outline the order in which items may be discussed.  It is important to know what to expect, what information you need to gather, and how to have a successful divorce mediation.  Sun River Mediation is here to help answer questions and provide mediation services to people in Utah.  Contact our office today to learn more and begin the mediation process.

Divorce Mediation Frequently Asked Questions

Divorce mediation is a meeting between separating spouses which currently takes place online.  Mediation is a space where confidentiality is provided to participants and open discussion can take place to address issues at hand.  It is a place where agreements can be made by the parties, on their own terms.  This process usually helps to save time, money, and can be an opportunity to work together for a common goal.  These negotiations are facilitated by a neutral third party known as the mediator.  Divorce and family-related issues range from small to large, immediate to long-term.  The ultimate goal is to reach mutually beneficial and agreeable outcomes that achieve the best results for both parties, their children, and their current financial predicaments.

Both parties can retain their own personal counsel to assist them during the divorce and mediation process and this is encouraged but not mandatory.  Even if you do not choose to have legal representation, it is advisable to have an attorney review the agreement from the mediation before the parties or legal counsel turn it into a legal binding document.

At Sun River Mediation the hourly rate is $140 with a one hour minimum, split by the parties.
